BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - To celebrate UAB's 40th anniversary, the university is introducing the Alys Stephens Center Freshman Arts Card. Every incoming freshman will receive a card redeemable for two complimentary tickets to the Alys Stephens Center's presented season.

The Alys Stephens Center offers great perks and discounts for students. For each regular season performance, a special block of student tickets are reserved. Student tickets are $20 in advance and $10 day of show for all regular-season performances, limited to one per student and available on a first-come, first-serve basis with valid student ID. The student ticket rate does not apply to special events. This season students can see performances by artists including the legendary Buddy Guy, author/satirist David Sedaris, Lizz Wright, The Wailers, Bruce Hornsby, Los Lobos, Béla Fleck and more for just $20 per ticket. Best of all, the shows happen right on campus. For a full season schedule, visit www.AlysStephens.org.

The Alys Stephens Center also offers the 30 & Under Classical Pass for people age 30 or younger for $15; it can be purchased for any performance in the Birmingham Music Club Classically Inclined Series.

UAB students also can join Birmingham's coolest group of young professionals. The Alys Stephens Center Junior Patrons host events and parties at the ASC, plan fundraisers, receive special discounts on ticket prices and more. Students can join for just $25. Membership includes perks such as access to the JP VIP lounge for select events, artist meet-and-greet opportunities, priority seating in the JP section with advance reservation, 10 percent off any other regular season performance, advance notice and pre-sale opportunities for select performances and discounts in ASC gift shop and gallery. The season kicks off with a free Junior Patrons outdoor event, inter-ART-ive, on Sept. 17. Call 205-975-2787 or go to www.AlysStephens.org.
